Private school advertising: $8,000MXN a month and $1,381MXN per enrolled student (median)

Median monthly advertising spend, October 2026 edition: primary schools $3,250MXN, high schools $6,083MXN, universities $14,000MXN. Each lead costs $41MXN and each enrolled student $1,381MXN (median).

With a median lifetime value of $144,000MXN, education advertising is one of the most profitable investments there is. The problem is not how much is spent but how much of what was bought evaporates: every lead that gets no reply already cost $41MXN and walked over, for free, to the school across the street.

Before you raise the ad budget: how many of last month’s leads got follow-up?

Source and method

Where it comes from

Cost per lead = spend ÷ leads; cost to acquire a student = spend ÷ new students, per the Enrollment X-Ray; institutions charging in pesos only. Sample: 102 Enrollment X-Rays completed between March and October 2026 with owners and directors of 102 private institutions in 69 Mexican cities. These are institutions that requested the diagnostic, not the country. Median, not average: one school with 7,000 students skews the average and makes it lie. n = 28 / 12 / 38 / 86 (primary schools, high schools, universities, all).

Median before average; no figure based on fewer than 5 institutions is published. Full methodology.
